Historic monuments in Périgueux

Périgueux boasts 44 listed historic monuments including Saint Front cathedral (12th century, Roman and Byzantine influence, atypical architecture , layout in the form of a Greek cross which denotes the Roman style), the Arènes garden surrounded by relics of the Roman ampitheatre (2nd century), the tower of Vésone (ancient Gallo-Roman temple), château Barrière (12th to 16th century), Mataguerre tower (13th century fortification), "maisons des Quais" (architectural ensemble of three beautiful 15th and 16th century mansions) as well as the Vieille Ville where you can stroll around the streets through the historic centre of Périgueux.
